The regulatory framework in Russia is very different from the European context in which we usually move nimbly. If in the EU market is in force the principle of mutual recognition and the mandatory certification (CE marking) is required only for certain families of products, in Russia, in accordance with Law no . 508 of 07.22.92 on the defense of the rights of consumers, most of the products to be marketed on the domestic markets of the federation must be certified to make sure that the product complies with Russian standards.
Since the examination of imported goods is not of direct responsibility of the customs bodies, the latter are limited to verify the existence and authenticity of the certification of imported goods. In the system of customs control, the mandatory reference document is the GOST R confrmity certificate(“Gosudarstvennyj Standart” ovvero “Standard of State”) and the products characterized by this approval demonstrate that they are in compliance with the applicable standards and are certified by a certification body accredited by Gosstandart. The certificate of conformity GOST R that must be attached to the customs loading declaration, is the basic document for the entry of goods into the customs territory of the Russian Federation.
The Tekima cables have the GOST-R certificate (mandatory for this type of product ) and therefore may present the passport for entry into the Russian market.
